"The Fast Lady" (1962)
My take on the film: Julie was sensational in "The Fast Lady", beautiful as ever of course and she acted beautifully, too. She didn't actually have a lot of time on screen, but they were the best bits! When John Schlesinger saw that film it is no wonder that he chose her to play Liz in "Billy Liar".

Stanley Baxter and the others were very good, too - lots of old English comedy stalwarts, and it was moving to see Graham Hill play a short cameo role. Very sad what happened to him.

There were lots of funny moments, but the film was rather spoiled for me by the madcap drives through busy streets and country lanes. It is not actually funny to see innocent lives at great risk through "comedy" driving. They could have done it without showing scenes where people could easily have been killed or maimed.

"The Fast Lady" - directed by Ken Annikin in 1962

Graham Hill, John Surtees, Raymond Baxter and Dickie Davies have cameos in the race scene in Murdoch's dream.
