UNDERSTANDING THE UKRAINE CONFLICT
THE BASICS
- PUTIN is an ageing psychopathic dictator.
- Psychopaths don't necessarily function by any kind of logic, or of course morality that civilized people understand.
- Nor can you believe ANYthing they say.
- Putin said that the fall of the USSR was "the saddest moment" of his lifetime. (THAT we CAN believe.)
- He also thinks that Ukraine "belongs to Russia", even though its people have never been Russian.
- He wants to resurrect the USSR, and will do anything he can to do so, though he is not so stupid as to commit Russia to a full-scale war with the West.
- He also wants to leave a legacy (in itself an insane desire) and be remembered as "Putin The Great" like his hero "Peter The Great".
THE INVASION (SEE HERE: http://www.vervinomni.net/count/UKRAINE/1.htm)
- In 2014 Putin invaded Crimea and some other territory, and the Free World (don't laugh) did nothing, not even any impose significant sanctions. This reminds us of 1936, when the Western Allies did nothing when Hitler remilitarised the German Rheinland against the WWI Armistice accords - which of course emboldened Hitler, and we know what happened next.
- Emboldened by the West's pathetic naivety, he invaded Ukraine, declaring an intention to "deNazify it". The stating of obvious LIES is a key element of a psychopath's strategy - and indeed of many current regimes in the west. As Hitler said (And he was Satanic, but in many was not a fool: "Tell a lie, repeat it often, and eventually they will believe it."
- It is to be noted that SOVEREIGN Ukraine posed no conceivable physical danger to Russia AT ALL; the CONTRARY was obviously true.
- There was ONE danger that Ukraine posed. Itself corrupt, it was slowly emerging from its century of enslavement under the USSR and becoming increasingly closer to the West. Had it eventually joined the EU its growing prosperity and democracy would likely have made many Russians restless at STILL being ruled by a quasi-Soviet dictatorship - which Russia certainly IS. That would naturally have threatened the position of Putin and his ruling mafiosi.
- Having denied multiple times (those lies again) that he intended to invade Ukraine Putin finally did so, but met fierce and staggeringly-heroic resistance from a people who understand Russians only too well. Ukraine has had quite a lot of military help (MUCH OF it too grudging and slow), but its resistance to the might of the far bigger and better resourced Russia has been astonishing.
- Throughout this, the west has been fearful of "annoying Russia", an attitude of craven appeasement towards a hideous dictatorship that beggars belief. As Churchill said: "An appeaser is someone who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last."
- In any case, we should respect and react to John Donne's immortal words. (SEE BELOW).
- HUGE sacrifices have been made by millions of Ukrainians, so that Russians have paid very dearly in blood for their crime, though not of course the ruling elite.
- In their invasion, the Russians have:
- utterly destroyed huge areas of Ukraine, mostly in heavily-populated cities. - deliberately targeted civilians in malls, residential areas and even medical facilities. - killed untold thousands of totally-innocent people and maimed many thousands more.
- orphaned a huge number of children and correspondingly killed the children of a huge number of parents.
-
kidnapped children to be taken to Russia and RUSSIFIED after the example of the equally-vile CCP of China in Tibet.
-
tortured, raped and summarily executed many people.
- killed up to a MILLION of their own mostly young men who had NO CHOICE about fighting.
- devastated the world's economy and put it at risk of global nuclear conflict.
- threatened the above on numerous occasions.
- Yet many states STILL deal with Russia and even supply it with resources and even weapons.
AND it is still in the United Nations, but HOW CAN ONE BE "UNITED" with dictatorships?
THE FUTURE
- Russia is so vast and with such resources (including in blood that its leadership cares nothing about) that it will eventually prevail UNLESS THE WEST PROPERLY DEFENDS IT - which it certainly COULD.
- Putin winning would be a HUGE STEP BACKWARDS for Humanity in a victory of massive proportions of tyranny over freedom.
- Make no mistake, a Russian-occupied Ukraine would be at great risk of genocide, since the Putin clan do not accept Ukraine's right to exist and therefore obviously not its people either. At best the remaining Ukrainians would be enslaved, their lives utterly ruined. (SEE HERE - the UKRAINIAN HOLODOMOR GENOCIDE)
- And Russia would be on the borders of Poland, the dream of resurrecting the USSR having taken a giant leap forward.
THE BOTTOM LINE
- The Russians MUST BE DRIVEN BACK to their border.
- This CAN BE DONE, since the West's resources are FAR GREATER except in nuclear terms (which are roughly equal.)
- It requires a big sacrifice in comfort, blood and money, but a failure to do it WOULD BE MUCH WORSE in the end.
- It would also give a GREEN LIGHT to the CCP of China in its aim to seize Taiwan, a peaceful, free, democratic and prosperous country to which China has NO LEGITIMATE CLAIM WHATSOEVER.
- The Russian threats about nuclear war are a bluff, and in any case once cannot live with nuclear threats. I believe they would ONLY use a nuclear weapon if Western forces were to ENTER Russia itself, which HAS NEVER BEEN A THREAT.
TRUMP?
His current actions are surreal. His deal reminds of us of May's BRINO with the EU - it is in fact a SURRENDER: Putin would have gained a large part of Ukraine's territory. How Trump thinks that can in any way be justified is hard to understand except by acknowledging that:
- Trump doesn't care about basic Western (and civilized) notions of freedom and sovereignty.
- He wants Putin as a pal in the coming war with China.
- He wants to "Make America Great Again" economically by stealing Ukraine's mineral resources while at the same time rubbishing the values symbolized by the American Constitution and the Statue of Liberty.
OR ...... Is he playing a clever and indeed cunning hand by giving Putin enough rope to hang himself (and deceiving us ALL at the same time)? Unlikely it seems, but time will tell. However, if the American people allow him to betray all their country's principles for the sake of money it will bring eternal shame on the country that saved the world from tyranny in the last century. Putin and Trump are both concerned for their "legacy", but I hardly think that eternal shame is one that Trump would like.
ZELENSKY?
- He was and/or is as corrupt as most politicians, especially those east of Poland.
- His supposed corruption is UTTERLY IRRELEVANT. From an outsider's viewpoint he has done nothing since the invasion except lead the stupendously-brave resistance of his people.
- He has not fled to some safe haven with billions of dollars, or even roubles to Russia like Assad.
- There is no justification in calling for his removal.
- TWO THINGS ONLY COUNT not any supposed corruption:
1) The IMMENSE suffering of the Ukrainian people.
2) Their (and Humanity's) right to FREEDOM and JUSTICE. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(Chris Snuggs - 27 April, 2025)
JUST THINK: ALL THIS HIDEOUS SUFFERING derives from ONE MAN'S INSANE
DELUSION about his country OWNING another country. The principle of "Live and let
live" is competely incomprehensible to many dictators, who throughout history SHOULD
HAVE STAYED AT HOME
TO LOOK AFTER THEIR OWN PEOPLE. We only have ONE life,
and PUTIN has ended or destroyed that one life for MILLIONS OF PEOPLE and for
NO SANE REASON. HE CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO PEVAIL IN THIS SATANIC LUNACY. |
Ordinary Ukrainians are our brothers and sisters, just as ordinary Spanish were during
the Civil War there in the 1930s. We cannot abandon them to a genocidal psychopath.
